Are services covered by OHIP?

Physician services are covered by OHIP but there may be incidental fees related to uninsured services such as viscosupplementation injections or doctor’s notes for employers.

SportMED+ is a private rehabilitation clinic and as such therapy services are not covered by OHIP. We are able to direct bill most private insurance plans on your behalf. We also accept:

• Private payment (cash, credit, or debit)
• Auto Insurance (we are FSCO licenced and submit directly to insurers through HCAI)
• Veteran’s Affairs
• WSIB

Do I need a referral to make an appointment?

A referral is required to schedule an appointment with Doctors Lemenchick and Lougheed. You do not need a referral to see one of our physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologist, or registered massage therapist.

Are services covered by OHIP?

Insurance Coverage

Our goal is let you focus on your recovery, not paperwork. Our administrative team will help you complete insurance forms and in many cases we can even take care of billing your insurer directly.

Many people have access to insurance coverage for physiotherapy, occupational therapy, massage therapy, and custom knee braces through extended health insurance plans

Auto Accidents

If you are injured in a motor vehicle accident (car, ATV, snowmobile, or scooter) in Ontario then your rehabilitation costs will be fully covered (www.fsco.gov.on.ca/en/auto), even if you are the passenger or a pedestrian.

OHIP Funded Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy funding for clients with OHIP coverage is available at our affiliated clinics however we are only funded to treat a limited number clients per year. This fills up quickly, so please ask us if you qualify when booking an appointment.

You may qualify if you:

• are aged 65 or older, OR;
• are aged 19 or younger, OR;
• have had an overnight hospitalization, OR:
• ODSP / OW Recipient (with proof of current eligibility)

If you qualify you must have a referral from a physician or nurse practitioner for physiotherapy,
& have a valid OHIP card
